It seems that in this blog, I had initially planned to do a variety of world building for various stories. Some of those worlds have now been abandoned and are now obsolete. Some have been superceded. Very few of them have been completed.
As a result, I feel and I suspect that perhaps, maybe, I shall post those stories that are longer than a short story but shorter than a webnovel. Meaning, novellas and novel sized works. Ones that I do not plan to have properly published through conventional means. The stories that are just the results of thoughts or practice.
I'm not sure what to do with some of my previous works in progress. We shall see if they can be reworked, renovated or amalgamated into other stories.
Some of the stories I shall put up here have previously been published on another platform where the general audience was quite different. It was an experiment to see if I could learn to write for that type of target audience and experience a whole different world of writing. I feel that my stories did not fit in there. In fact, they seldom fit in anywhere.
All too often, they are the results of story dreams that I have dreamt and expanded upon. Adventures I have experienced or watched like a movie in my sleep. The problem with basing some stories on these dreams, whether fragments or a whole, there always remains a strange sense of illogic or incompleteness. An atmosphere that I do not want to carry into the final versions and yet persist.
Hmm. Completely changing the atmosphere of an established work that seems to have finalised itself in my head is difficult. It requires parts to be cut out but when certain pieces are missing, the story feels disjointed and unconnected. So then what?
We practice. And continue to practice. And move on to another, hopefully more worthy story.
The aim is to have a different story for every mood, but we are yet far from that goal. As such, it may not be a bad idea to continue to allow this blog to contain the studies of world building.
As for the original story that was meant to be told in blog form here, it hasn't progressed very far. The ideas and outlines are still sound, but they now appear superficial. Some areas still seem too difficult to write.
Perhaps one day, we shall see the complete story of that story dream written down. Maybe not.
So here is to a future of persevering adventure. A future of growth and hopefully more completed stories.
